Well done Aolish on such a great achievement. Aolish ran the Chicago Half Marathon in aid of North West STOP and raised €896.00, which we really appreciate and will help to support North West STOP services by providing free counselling, art therapy & play therapy to those who need it.
Aolish said “I hope the money will help some of those who need it most, proud to support a fantastic service. It was an honour to run the half marathon knowing that I was raising money for a service in Sligo, one that I know has helped so many people. I met amazing people throughout my training and in Chicago and I’m so grateful for their support and encouragement, I’d particularly like to mention the Coolaney running group and all the Ardú women who were a huge motivation to me. There is great comfort in knowing that there is always someone that will meet you where you’re at and support and encourage you, I found that through my running and I hope others find that with NW Stop when they need it.”

My Story
My name is Aolish Gormley, and I’m reaching out to you today with an initiative that is very close to my heart. Over two years ago, I faced severe mental health challenges in the form of postnatal depression. This experience ignited a passion in me to speak openly about maternal mental health and to support and encourage mothers in looking after their mental well-being.
To channel this passion, I founded a project called Ardú, based in Sligo, which aims to support maternal mental health and well-being. During my struggles, running became a lifeline for me, helping me navigate through the dark days. Through Ardú, I now strive to foster connection, community, and movement, as I believe these are powerful tools in overcoming mental health difficulties.
