The Tale of the Buck in the Bath on the Mountain.
At the end of 2020, Mark Elliott got in touch with our office with an….astounding idea….he wanted to carry a bath
!!!to the top of Knocknarea
!!! (seriously!)have a team of people
carry up bags of ice to fill the bath
AND…he wanted to sit in the bath
on top of the mountain
to raise funds for our service
.
WOW!!! Is what we said! It was gonna be HUGE!! A massive endurance challenge with support from his friends! Everyone was looking forward to it and talking about it….

Sadly, due to social distancing and the on/off nature of restrictions at the time it was not to be. #flattenthecurve
We stayed in touch with Mark and towards the end of 2021 he undertook to raise funds by completing A Dip A Day in open water , whatever the weather
around Sligo and Leitrim. Mark had done this before for Acquired Brain Injury Ireland so when he chose NW STOP for their second round of @adipadayindecember we were delighted to have their support and optimistic that this would be a fantastic effort!!
Again, with support from friends, strangers, new friends and a few animals…Mark and his crew not only did 31 dips during December 2021 but they did extras too!!

and a ringing in the New Year Dip! https://www.facebook.com/100042559142587/videos/722822569102832/
They made this a fantastic month-long event with benefits and they raised €17,320.00 which will provide no less than 430 counselling sessions to clients in the Northwest who require mental health support. This is PHENOMENAL!!! We are elated! It fills us with pride that we have supporters like Mark and his friends and we hope that they’re all filled to the brim with pride too!!
We fully expect to see Mark supporting some deserving charity as “The Buck in the Bath on the Mountain” very soon!!
