Together We Run – Ardu Rise Together 150km for North West STOP in September 2024

My Story
My name is Aolish Gormley, and I’m reaching out to you today with an initiative that is very close to my heart. Over two years ago, I faced severe mental health challenges in the form of postnatal depression. This experience ignited a passion in me to speak openly about maternal mental health and to support and encourage mothers in looking after their mental well-being.
To channel this passion, I founded a project called Ardú, based in Sligo, which aims to support maternal mental health and well-being. During my struggles, running became a lifeline for me, helping me navigate through the dark days. Through Ardú, I now strive to foster connection, community, and movement, as I believe these are powerful tools in overcoming mental health difficulties.
This September, I am embarking on a mission to run 150km to raise funds for North West Stop, an organization whose work is crucial in supporting mental health in our region. My goal is not just to run these kilometers alone, but to bring together as many groups and individuals as possible to join me in this journey.
I am calling on local football clubs, youth groups, workplaces, friend groups, families and anyone willing to join me on different days throughout September to help complete these kilometers. Together, we can make a significant impact by raising awareness about mental health, emphasing the importance of connection and support, and highlight the valuable services North West Stop provides.
I will culminate this challenge by participating in the Chicago Half Marathon at the end of September. This marathon is a personal goal I set during my own journey, representing a challenge that felt much bigger than myself.
My hope is to bring people together and show that nobody has to face challenges alone.
I hope that you will join me.
