But then the new Senior Men’s coach Kev returns home from Down Under (with a shite tan and a bird from Carlow). Before long Kev is adding mindfulness alongside lunges to the Senior Men’s training sessions and suddenly Seamie’s binge-drinking & fist-fighting methods of communication are put to the test…
Exploring the concept of toxic masculinity in rural Ireland, One of the Lads is a humorous and thought-provoking story about escaping the expectations society places on us.
Produced by the award-winning The Rabbit’s Riot Theatre Company and written by Manorhamilton local Treasa Nealon, One of the Lads is fresh from it’s debut in the Mick Lally Theatre as part of the Galway Theatre Festival. Not suitable for chidlren.

This programme is informed by the work of the songwriter Damien Dempsey and in bringing together theatre, dance, music and discussion the programme seeks to be provocative, stimulating, entertaining as well as raise awareness. The programme brings together a number of events where male psychology, masculinity and men’s voice is centre stage.
A number of events create opportunity for connecting on an inclusive and cross community basis.
