Martin Beanz Ward’s The Dead House: A work in progress
July 18, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
FreeAs part of Traveller Pride Week, Sligo Traveller Support Group are delighted to host The Dead House by Martin Beanz Warde
Nothing brings a family together on a shared march of mourning like the loss of one of their elders, and nothing reminds them of where they came from, quite like the wagons that brought them there.
The Dead House is the story of one family in the west of Ireland and the return home of a son who is alienated from their traditions after years of deliberate absence.
On the day of an Irish wake, family stories resurface that have lain dormant for years. However, the ghosts of the past brings with them the memories of trauma, loss and despair.
The Dead House is a work in progress and takes place in the main auditorium of the Hawk’s Well Theatre.
Martin Beanz Warde is a writer, comedian, and podcaster whose articles have appeared in The Irish Times and Irish Examiner.
Duration: Approximately 50 minutes. Q&A will follow after the performance with Martin.
For ages 16+
