We are a voluntary community-based organisation that works to prevent suicide.

We provides counselling free of charge for all ages.

North West STOP cater for all age groups and all our services.

We provide a confidential counselling service where you can talk safely about loss, stress, confusion, conflict, and other challenges or pain in your life.

By fundraising or donating to North West STOP, your support stays within your local community, helping to ensure this vital service remains available to those who need it most.

We also encourage you to speak with your GP about any concerns you may have, so they can support you in accessing the help you need.

About Us

Our Services

North West STOP provide counselling for all age groups.

North West STOP counselling line is open from 8am – 4pm Monday – Friday

We aim to have a client matched with a counsellor within 72 hours (This can vary based on the clients’ ability to travel to a suitable counsellor or access to qualified child counsellor).

We have counsellors available in various locations in Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, West Cavan and North Mayo.

You may need to travel to access certain types of counselling

Getting to a counsellor is the responsibility of the client

Counselling Service

We provide a free confidential counselling service where you can safely talk about loss, stress, confusion, feeling alone, conflicts and other pain in your life. If you find that you are self-harming, suicidal and feeling hopeless, we can help you by calling our counselling service on 0818 444 000, where our counselling coordinator will organise the best available counsellor to help you.

Bereavement Counselling

We provide counselling services upon request to those who have been bereaved. We also assist families affected by a suicide and can provide counselling to help cope with the aftermath following a suicide.

Services For Children and Adolescents

We offer alternative therapies to children of all ages and adolescents depending on their age and which therapy would be the most beneficial to them.
If there has been a death in the family or a friend, a trauma or feeling depressed or suicidal, alternative therapies can be used as a tool to help when someone finds it difficult or too overwhelming to talk.

Promoting Positive Mental Health

We promote positive mental wellbeing and attend informational fairs to promote our services and help people find ways to help themselves look after their own mental health
